One essential feature for me is to monitor the host connectivity of storage paths. For example if all paths of a FC/iSCSI datastore are active/passive/dead. Check_MK has a great implementation of this feature - see http://git.mathias-kettner.de/git/?p=check_mk.git;a=blob;f=agents/special/agent_vsphere;h=e272957ecd27c22aac9d2a817f32b8c640772aa3;hb=refs/heads/master
It should be something like config.multipathState.path on hostproperties.
I will look into it in the next days when i got more time.
