Idea

Based on recent reporting 1, that the best thing you can do is talk about climate change, let's have a session to talk about how the dweb intersects with our thinking about climate mitigation, adaptation, or even minimally -- our awareness about the climate crisis

I know I missed the cutoff for sharing as a project, my plan is to carve out some space on Sunday morning and I wanted this up in advance as a place to point people to after the fact!

We had a lovely chat! Merging sessions with Frances, I mentioned I'd throw the notes up here, so for those looking for links after:

Themes:

  • entwined struggles: climate + social justice
  • climate imaginations
  • and technical implementations
  • scale of change
  • role of hope
  • cascading effects and non-linear futures

Narratives:

  • solarpunk
  • Pleistocene Park in Russia
  • Ecotopia
  • Kim Stanley Robinson, New York 2140
  • Octavia Butler, Parable of the Sower series
  • Water management and water cycle restoration in Australia (sorry, didn't catch where!)

that paper Deep Adaptation: A Map for Navigating Climate Tragedy by Jem Bendell

Hi. I'm interested in this too. Thanks for the follow up notes. IS this discussion going to continue evolving here, or elsewhere?
