Steps to reproduce:

{
    "java.project.sourcePaths": [
        "src1"
    ]
}
  • start VS Code
  • open Foo.java
    you will get the following error:
    Foo.java is not on the classpath of project wrong-packagename_XXX, only syntax errors are reported
    It is expected.
  • edit Foo.java; don't save
  • open .vscode/settings.json
  • change src1 to src
    The error should disappear.
