Hi @bmorelli25 Is this content for the OpenTelemetry integration page in APM Overview doc? Or is the content required for the metrics page the Java Agent Reference doc?

You're interested in a few different things here. Both of these will need to be updated when the actions described in #337 are complete:

• The OpenTelemetry integration page in the APM Overview describes our current implementation of OTel.
• The official docs in the otel-contrib repo: https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-collector-contrib/tree/master/exporter/elasticexporter.

I'm not sure on a timeline yet, but it looks like we're getting closer:

initial metrics support has landed in opentelemetry-collector-contrib. When we have support for histograms in the server/protocol, we'll update the exporter.
