There is a proposal to load fields async or partially #152159.

Lens should not load fields for charts and maps when just rendering the data. This is especially important on Dashboards, where a full field list should not be retrieved from the server.

Removing the Presentation team label from this one because we've moved our items (Controls & Maps) to a separate issue
