Kibana version: 5.1.1

Elasticsearch version: 5.1.1

Description of the problem including expected versus actual behavior:
We have a strict mapping on our index. Kibana builds up his index pattern based on that mapping.
The index pattern looks fine but the fields which does not contain data have their property 'searchable' on the value: false.
So we can't create a visualization for that field since that field is not listed as an option in our visualization tab. But we would like to create the visualization before it contains data. So the visualization just returns: 0 results.
We didn't seem to have this problem with previous versions.

Any solutions or explanation?

Hi @critix, this is a known issue that is being tracked here: #9571. At the moment the only solution is to index some data for those fields. We're working on a fix though, please follow the above ticket for updates.
