Increasing compression when sending video?

Your use case

When sending video, while it does say it's compressing video, in most cases, the output file is about the same size or only slightly smaller than the original. I would love for the compression to be increased (dramatically) or even the option to control the level of compression, or ideally, the resizing, of the video. Most video taken from a phone is too large to be sent.

Have you considered any alternatives?

I've used Conversations/Blabber for XMPP, and really like how it handles video compression, for example. It also allows resizing of the video to a lower resolution.

Yea, my camera has the option to choose res & bitrate (I usually video in like 480p so I can have a long video)
The compression on element sometimes increases the size(rarely)

Possibly a list like the old style of image uploading, it had a list of:

• original
• large
• medium
• small

I hope your wish of doing it similar to the desktop app does not come true. When generating thumbnails, Synapse creates a file that is multiple times the original in some cases! 🙀
