The first stop for newcommers

I'm wondering if you have a sample project to help me start developing. For example, creating a new plugin to add a button or functionality to the menu bar, dock, or an introduction to the developer environment.

There's some developer docs for getting started: https://docs.elementary.io/develop/ Anything more, I found you tend to need to look through source of other apps to work out how to do what you want. Plank (the dock) is being rewritten for GTK4 I think so maybe wait for that before you try anything (or get involved in the rewrite!)
