Display bibliographic entry for citekey at point in echo area

Would citar be the right package to include a feature like RefTeX's citation info, i.e. to display the reference of a citekey at point in the echo area?

If you're talking about org, is that not already the case? It should be.

Ah, I see. I use markdown(-mode) for writing academic papers. And: no, on my machine, org-mode/citar do not display bibliographic entries for citekeys at point in echo area.

For it to display in org, you need to have the citar (or the org-cite basic one) "activate processor" configured. Is that not the case?

For markdown, I'm not really sure how we'd implement the equivalent. If it was easy to implement and maintain, it would likely make sense though.

I've tried configuring the citar processor(s) for org-mode as shown here to see it in action but it didn't work. This is almost certainly my fault, though, as I am not really into org-mode (too complex for my taste). No worries. It would be nice to have that in markdown-mode but life goes on without it. ;-)
