flutter stuck on hot restart

What happened

After a few seconds of local dev using the debugger the app crashes, and becomes unresponsive. If I run a hot reload it gets stuck in "Performing hot reload...". I opened an issue on Intellij and they said it's from this extension: "I found plenty of SEVERE - io.flutter.vmService.VmServiceWrapper errors seem to be related, which come from the plugin."

this seems to be related to this issue dart-lang/sdk#54650 which is now fixed.
