As part of #101, set up example project and ensure reasonable behavior and documentation is.

Completed in b050e08..2ffa17b.

Tested example project under python 3.7, django 2.2
Audited and updated documentation for setting up the app
Enhanced sample application:
- No longer requires API key to load a page
- Added useful user feedback to help demonstrate behavior
