This needs to work quickly on large datasets. This covers:

Going over the code and looking for places to optimize it.
Figuring out ways of semi-automating the process of downloading GBIF and other checklists for local use.
Improve speed in accessing lots of local files.

Provide verbose options that allow the user to optimize speed, by e.g. letting the user know on the fly which online databases are being queried most often.
