Proposal

go-msgpack v2.1.0 includes some code changes that may benefit us.

hashicorp/go-msgpack#13 makes time.Time backwards compatible and may remove the need for us to fix time ourselves, but hashicorp/go-msgpack#14 could have some performance impact that we should measure before upgrading.
