1.8.3 can't install plugins #7422

I installed the 1.8.3 release from the downloads page and now I can't install plugins. I could reproduce the issue reliably in a clean Lubuntu 16.04 VM.

I've tried to install about half a dozen plugins with the same result.

I have the same issue with OS X 10.11.5 when trying to install the official vmware plugin.

$ vagrant version

I can reproduce that with Vagrant 1.8.3 on OSX starting with a clean ~/.vagrant.d folder and installing the first plugin with vagrant plugin install vagrant-vmware-fusion.

On Windows (10), I'm experiencing a checksum failure when trying to install plugins with Vagrant 1.8.3.

PS C:\> vagrant plugin install vagrant-triggers
Installing the 'vagrant-triggers' plugin. This can take a few minutes...
Bundler, the underlying system Vagrant uses to install plugins,
reported an error. The error is shown below. These errors are usually
caused by misconfigured plugin installations or transient network
issues. The error from Bundler is:

Checksum of /versions does not match the checksum provided by server! Something is wrong.

Warning: this Gemfile contains multiple primary sources. Using `source` more than once without a block is a security risk, and may result in installing unexpe
cted gems. To resolve this warning, use a block to indicate which gems should come from the secondary source. To upgrade this warning to an error, run `bundle
 config disable_multisource true`.

vagrant 1.8.3 uses bundler-1.12.0 which appears to have a bug related to this issue that is fixed in 1.12.1: rubygems/bundler#4472

Hi everyone,

This issue was already reported and has been fixed on master. We will release a new version shortly, but use 1.8.2 for now if you require interaction with plugins. Thanks and sorry!

Hi,

how can I install a previous version? Everytime I install a version from the archives i get

Installed Version: 1.8.3
Latest Version: 1.8.1

Hi @regenrek

You can uninstall Vagrant and then install the older version from releases.hashicorp.com.

@sethvargo Thank you very much but I already did that....

rm -rf /Applications/Vagrant
rm -f /usr/local/bin/vagrant
sudo pkgutil --forget com.vagrant.vagrant
rm -rf ~/.vagrant.d

Downloaded 1.8.1.dmg (or 1.8.0) and everytime it says Installed: 1.8.3.
Need to install plugins, so its a bit weird that everytime i will get the newest version

EDIT: Nevermind. I used the uninstall.tool in the .dmg - this worked
