April Release Checklist

Our goals for the April release are:

Deposit Backend

• To have settled the big lines of the Deposit API:
  • Controller RFC: RFC: Record Controller rfcs#23 Cleaned up.
  • Deposit Rest API RFC: RFC: Deposit REST API - WIP rfcs#22 Cleaned up.
• proof of concept for deposit API
  • Generate empty initial record for frontend Dump vocabularies invenio-rdm-records#91 (See blockers below)
  • Generate controlled vocabulary(ies) for frontend Dump vocabularies invenio-rdm-records#91 (See blockers below)
• branch for flask-resources: global: first beta including views, resources, context and content ne… flask-resources#1
• branch for invenio-resources: global: first beta version including records resource creation and se… invenio-records-resources#1

Deposit Frontend

• To have settled on the big lines of the Deposit frontend: RFC: Deposit frontend architecture rfcs#27 (Codimd: https://codimd.web.cern.ch/_l39jjcmQX2Q40jpCDu6GQ#). Cleaned up.
• Proof of concept for deposit page: fill 2 fields
  • button with action (Save Draft + Publish buttons with faked actions)
  • field (titles, resource type)

  • loads passed config
  • loads empty initial record
  • loads pre-existing record (record is still fake) Needs to merge existing record with empty one so the user can fill in the missing parts
  • shows error message
  • URL re-write
  • Backend error handling in frontend end (ErrorHandler class, faked api response errors)
  • Transformation layer (on receiving a record, before submitting a record)
  • Confirm Modal before publishing
• Merge invenio-app-rdm/deposit branch into master and release

CLI + Cookiecutter

• Release updated cookiecutter + updated cli using it

Blockers

• Missing email-validator library due to latest 2.3.1 WTForms is breaking Travis everywhere. Quick fix here: dependencies: fix missing email_validator [more] invenio-accounts#312 (needs to be merged)

S3

• Improvements to big file uploads (egabancho 's contribution): File upload fails for big files invenio-s3#11
  • v1.0.3 has been released with improvements on big files uploads. Should be transparent since is compatible with v1.0.2 currently pinned.

Invenio-Indexer

• release: v1.1.2 invenio-indexer#118. PR for supporting a custom record class for indexing. Needed in invenio-communities.

Cookiecutter-RDM

• Slugify project name: Remove quotes from project_shortname cookiecutter-invenio-rdm#45
• Unpin WTForms: unpin WTForms when fixed upstream cookiecutter-invenio-rdm#67

Developer Experience

• storage: add depth parameter to LinkStorage pywebpack#23 Implement symlinks on folder level (expects 2 level folder e.g js/invenio_app_rdm -> symlinks invenio_app_rdm). Plays well with the folder convention assets/js/<module_name>
• Developer experience fixes invenio-assets#108. Integrates folder symlinks, source maps in development, patches out of the box watchpack/DirectoryWatcher, enables LinkStorage in development mode.
