[Bug] Handbrake ui freezes routinely after directory scan

Current Behavior

Originally posted on the main handbrake repo HandBrake/HandBrake#6527,

The app will permanently freeze becoming fully unresponsive during the last preview generation step of the last file in the directory.
Some consistent symptoms:

• What files are being scanned doesn't seem to affect it, as I can kill the container and restart it, and it will correctly finish scanning that directory on the next run.
• The first directory scan of the processes lifetime never freezes, but subsequent scans have like a 30% chance off freezing for me
• I have never seen it freeze while scanning a single source at a time
• There isn't a crash log, the process stays active, but there is no cpu usage and memory utilization does not change

I've tried restarting nginx and openbox in case it was a remote desktop service thing, but neither one made handbrake responsive.
I couldn't figure out how to restart tigervnc
