Hi, not the dev, but i do know that answers.

right now its 720p (max screen resolution), this screen has not really planed to play video.
there will be a option to lower quality in 0.3.0 build to save data for hotspot user, guess i can ask to also put a 1080 option, but may not improve quality since the screen is 720P

mine, it pick 1080 and video laggy asf :D try NHK, bitrate even fucked up, many artifact
