Before you start.

  • I have checked the Rejected Features page.
  • I have searched the issue tracker for a feature request that matches the one I want to file, without success.

My great idea for Fraidycat is:
I would like to be able to customize how many posts are shown per-follow. So, to be able to set a limit of 20 or 30 for a specific follow, instead of the default 10.

My specific use case is hackernews... I've gotten very comfortable with the length of hackernews's front page, so at a cutoff of 10 part of my brain keeps telling me I've missed something. Probably irrational, as I'm not actually worried about missing posts--if I don't view hackernews for a few days come back, I don't feel any need to page into the history to catch up. But for some reason my brain feels a 10 article lookback is too few for hackernews in particular.

This might be also perilously close to the "Unread Messages" rejected feature, so I will not blame you if you close this request on those grounds. However, I think customizing the limit still keeps me within "I just want to see an overview of what's happening", it's just certain sources produce enough content I'd like a wider sense of "what's happening now".

Okay cool - yeah, let me think about this. Ten is arbitrary - you are right about that. And a tool should strive to be deliberate. Great insight! Thankyou @xiao-maven.
