Like other pepper module pages, the readme of the main pepper repo should document customization properties. They're possible to find here, but users may never find this page:

Also, the description of pepper.before.readMeta did not explain that the name of the file itself must match the object being annotated, not just the corpus path (I thought any file called x.meta would annotate its containing corpus folder). I clarified the description in corpus-tools.org, but not in the code.
