Description

When you select multiple messages (for example, a thread) and forward them to another room, the formatting is awful and nigh unreadable. There are some very simple changes that could drastically improve the visual hierarchy. Here is an example of what the “Forward” function produced:

And here is a proof-of-concept of what it could produce. I edited it manually, but it could easily be automatic:

As a sidenote, it does not make any sense to prepend “You: ” to messages originally sent by the user's self. Because, only the same user will understand “You” to refer to the correct person; it would cause confusion for other people in the target room. “Me: ” would be a substantial improvement, but a simple username pill would probably be the best.

To Reproduce

I guess, go into a room, and select multiple text messages. Next, forward them all to another room. Then, take a look at what it looks like. I don't know what else to say.

Additional information:

  • Device: Samsung Galaxy S20
  • OS and OS version: Android 12
  • Installed version of FluffyChat: 1.6.2 (Gitlab Releases Page)
  • (Android only) Which store are you using: None. I was using the nightly fdroid repo, but it appears dead and long gone.
  • (Android only) Are Google Services available: Yes, but fluffychat is instead using UP
