I've used Timeshift for a long time and am currently using Timeshift v24.06.2 on Ubuntu 24.04.

I have found that while using Timeshift there are areas where what the App says/does and what the documentation says are not the same.

Example:

While running Timeshift, pick Settings/Location, it shows all my BTRFS filesystems.

Below that it says

  • Devices displayed above have BTRFS file systems.
  • BTRFS snapshots are saved on system partition. Other partitions are not supported.
  • Snapshots are save to /timeshift-btrfs on selected partition. Other locations are not supported.

But there is NO -- "/timeshift-btrfs" directory created by Timeshift.

There is a /run/timeshift but that is only populated with Snapshots while Timeshift is actually running on the System.

Example -- README doc incorrect information:

The Mint Github Timeshift README says under Minimal Setup

  • Timeshift requires very little setup. Just install it, run it for the first time and take the first snapshot. Cron job can be enabled for taking automatic snapshots of the system at regular intervals. The backup levels can be selected from the Settings window.

  • Snapshots are saved by default on the system (root) partition in path /timeshift. Other linux partitions can also be selected. For best results the snapshots should be saved to an external (non-system) partition.

Neither of the Above are True at least with Timeshift v24.06.2*** ???

Timeshift has always been a great Application for many BTRFS users.
Can someone/anyone take a look at some of the Issues?

Maybe also look at the other 256 Open Issues?

Thanks... for any reply.
