It would be cool if there were a plugin to add css filters like grayscale.

That's a cool idea.

I'd be up for implementing this when I've got a bit more time so I'll leave that open until then.

I'd probably do things a bit differently though. Maybe have two plugins: One for the filter attribute and one for adding blurriness (since that's the only useful thing I can think of with the backdrop attribute).
