It could be that I'm doing it wrong but when I use target.close() my client automatically reconnects and loops into another GET.
I have to send a separate close event to keep it from reconnecting.
target.send("close","");
Corresponding Javascript from WHATWG: source.addEventListener( 'close', function(event) { source.close(); }, false );
