Failed build - Exit code 137 - Killed [memory issue]

Did a fresh Docker install on a ubuntu droplet on Digital Ocean ($5/month, 512mb RAM). Running the basic initial command (docker build -t yourname/app) didn't work; it failed with
/opt/meteord/lib/build_app.sh: line 11: 27 Killed meteor build --directory $BUNDLE_DIR --server=http://localhost:3000
