  1. Going from the timestamps in the logs, it took 1.5 minutes for the extension to go from the Python path in python.defaultInterpreterPath to auto-selecting the virtual environment in the workspace
  2. Seems like it took even longer to update the status bar with the newly selected environment

It's very likely because discovery was blocking the activation of the rest of the extension, this is no longer a problem with #19102.
