Update fails and breaks existing install: Rename: "Code.exe" - Access is denied #49648

  • VSCode Version: < 1.23.1
    (unable to see exact version, as the install was unable to relaunch vscode after failure. I only updated a few days ago though before this so was likely only 1 release before current.)
  • OS Version: Windows 10 Version 1709 (OS Build 16299.431)

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Allow VSCode to download update
  2. Click restart to apply update in the notification popup in bottom right of VSCode.

Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: Unable to verify

Simply reinstalling VSCode works fine, seemingly no lost preferences, so nothing irreparable has occurred.
