Ever heard of the wifi chip designer Altobeam? Their chips can be found in some Comfast products, e.g. CF-WU710N v5, CF-WU712N, CF-WU817N.
I stumbled upon these while browsing on Aliexpress and so I had to investigate. They only provide drivers for Windows, of course. They did make drivers for Linux, but as far as I can tell they're only available in random repositories here on Github. Many of the files don't have a license, which makes me wonder how legal it is to distribute them. They are using (their internal copy of) mac80211 at least, that's nice.
It seems no Linux users have complained about these Comfast devices yet.
