object-view-box seems worth prototyping to me. Shouldn't be too complicated to implement, and it's a nice incremental improvement in expressing a way to slice out a part of an image.

object-overflow feels like it's in the "non-harmful" bucket at this point (with non-harmful conditioned on a reasonable resolution to the iframe security concerns in w3c/csswg-drafts#7143 , which I'm confident could be addressed via a !important UA stylesheet rule as suggested there.)

There is another area we're discussing about object-overflow, particularly its interaction with existing overflow* properties. Would love to hear your thoughts there as well : w3c/csswg-drafts#7144
