App is unusable in MS browsers (Edge and old) because menu panel animates away before it can be used

What is the current behavior?

When you click on the "Hamburbger" menu the main menu bar appears but then disappears before you can actually select an item, making the app unusuable

Expected behavior:

It would be nice to be able to use the menu!

Minimal reproduction of the problem with instructions:

Log in and then access the hamburger menu. Move the mouse to the menu area and then weep as it disappears before you can select anything

Version of affected browser(s),operating system(s), npm, node and ngrx:

Microsoft Edge 40.15063.0.0 and Internet Explorer 11.608.15063.0 (running on Windows 10 with latest service packs). Node version 8..4.0 ngrx v4.0.0
