When browsing for file, for example in the relative directory path on top, frequently the Hover Editor will block the tree, disabling the ability to click on the rest of the tree. For example, the photo below was taken while the cursor is clicked in the folder "4.HAC" and not moved - the Hover editor auto-activates and prevent selecting half the file tree below.
There should be an option to disable the hover editor in this context.

Sorry, it looks like you're using Quick Explorer, not file explorer. The principle is the same, except with Quick Explorer you also have to use the Tab key to turn off the default preview.
