We think transparency is important to build a trustful open-source community, so we regularly share our usage and sustainability statistics.
You can find some statistics that we have found interesting (in parenthesis, you see the same figs for the previous months). If you are interested in any other figures, please let us know.
Statistics for January 2025
Featured:
January was the month when most people learned about SpecFlow's death. So as expected, Reqnroll received more activity.
The most outstanding change we can see is in the number of unique Reqnroll projects, where we see an increase by 2677 that is 45% more than in December.
Google Search Console kept informing me during January of more and more records reached (a few days ago the "3.5K clicks from Google search in 28 days"). This is also visible in the website and documentation visits that has been doubled again!
Also noticeable that people use the Visual Studio extension more actively: people opened Reqnroll projects twice as many times as in December. Considering that people usually keep open their projects for longer time, the 112K project loads in a month is a huge number. If that would be evenly distributed it would mean that every single minute in January more than two Reqnroll projects have been opened (2.52 to be precise).
From this month, I added a new statistic that might be useful to guess the number of active users: how many Visual Studio & Rider installations were active and how many times users upgraded to the latest Visual Studio extension version. The first might correlate to the total Reqnroll user count (excludes VSCode and "notepad" users though), the second might correlate to the very active users. This month we had 6740 active installations (6284 VS, 456 Rider) and 2536 upgrades to the latest VS extension. So how many users we have? It must be around 7-8K.
