We could potentially use the same method for authentication that Signal uses.

We need to determine whether this approach could be implemented securely if the app is entirely browser based, or if we'd need more hardware access to, for instance, be able to manage whitelists of trusted devices, as Signal does.

Another method we might consider using among others is magic links.
