Error in value[[3L]](cond) : attempt to apply non-function persists after NEWS.md committed and pushed #2100

The error has remained after updating all software, including usethis to 3.1.0, and restarting.

usethis::use_github_release()
✔ Setting active project to "/Users/michelle/Sync/PhD/PopulateR".
CRAN-SUBMISSION file found, from a submission on 2025-01-26.
• Release name: "PopulateR 1.13"
• Tag name: "v1.13"
• SHA: "[deleted SHA key info]"

Well, what matters is whether the NEWS.md file was present in the CRAN submission, i.e. in that specific SHA. And you can't go back in time and change that now. You should not have the problem going forward, now that a NEWS file is present. And, if you had enacted the entire process with usethis 3.1.0, it also would have gone more smoothly. I believe this is fixed, but you were using an older version of usethis.
