I was also buffled with the callback function used with ractive.set(...) in the example code. First I thought, I missed something in the docs but later realized that callback argument was deprecated and now you can do the same with Promises. @Rich-Harris, if you want I can try to fork it and change the example to work with the latest Ractive.js.
