I purchased an Nvidia Shield TV (16GB) version a while back and wasn't aware that the storage would be an issue until I stumbled upon Quasar which was my favourite addon to use. So to give me an ideal solution I migrated my Nvidia shields internal memory over onto a Seagate 2TB HDD and everything was great, quasar running fine life was good. But since the update to both android 7 and the latest versions of Quasar I cannot get it to work and get stuck in the 'you must restart Kodi before using Quasar' loop. Is there no way to fix this nagging problem in the next update as I miss using this addon loads as it was my No.1 place to go for the best quality sources. It would be so much appreciated if you could at least look into why, how and a possible fix for this issue as i'm sure I am not the only one using external storage on there device.

Thanks for listening.

Andy.

You need to submit your log in debug mode, or the developer won't even look at it

That's right, it's the only way I can even try to do anything about it, and sadly, my hunch about this is that it'll simply be impossible since it's the OS that imposes different permissions with external storage, and the only way to fix it would be to root your device to allow Quasar to do its thing. There's just no update that could solve this, short of giving the ability to Quasar to root Android devices themselves, and that's sure as hell not going to happen.

Thanks for your response Scakemyer, it's a shame things have to develop sometimes not in a good way in certain scenarios like mine. I have however got Quasar working on version 0.9.42 on Krypton 17 just on same Shield with android 7. I just can't get it to work on 16.2 SPMC for whatever reason. Love Quasar though it is my main addon always
.....keep up the good work man!!

Looking at what changed in 0.9.43, getting all the settings at once could be what's blocking this, and actually might be solved with the same fix for those with Kodi installed from the Windows Store in #763, even if that sounds totally unrelated. I'll try to release v0.9.75 in the next few hours, which will include that tentative fix, if you can give that a try when it's out.

Hi Scakemyer, can you please reply with a link or confirmation when version v0.9.75 with the possible fix is available? Checked the Surge website and android arm is still on v0.9.74.

Thanks
Andy

It's not released yet, hit a few edge cases I want to fix before doing so, should be sometimes today.

Hi Scakemyer, thanks for updating to v0.9.75. So I deleted all old versions of Quasar and burst in both userdata and addon folders just to make sure I was starting fresh. Installed the latest version of quasar but i'm still getting the 'you must restart Kodi before using Quasar' loop. I can post a log file if that would help determin where the problem is? You will have to forgive my lack of experience in this how do I post a log file that can help?

Thanks
Andy

Ok so i've found the log file, do I just copy and paste all the code here?

Hi Scakemyer, sorry if I did not post the code correctly in my 2 previous posts I have detected the portion of code where Quasar tries to initiate and pasted it here > https://paste.ubuntu.com/24100632

If you could take a look to see if you can get Quasar working again that would be very much appreciated.

Thanks
Andy

Look, Quasar isn't broken, your setup is. There's nothing else I can do for you here. Nothing changed from 0.9.42 to 0.9.75 in how the daemon is actually installed, or ever for that matter, so that can't be the issue either. You simply can't install on external storage if it's not writeable in the first place, and you'll either have to look around the intertubes for answers, or just install Kodi and Quasar on internal storage. That's all there is to it.
