In the multiple versions of Kemulator (slightly modified, on internet archive), and some versions of nmod (don't remember which), the in-game store required to progress in the plot is bypassed. However, in the latest build here, it is not. You can recreate this issue by:

  1. Playing past the intro
  2. Opening the in-game cash shop
  3. Attempting to purchase any item (20000 Gold option is the easiest)

This feature is unfortunately either non-functional or non-existent in this version of Kemulator, which is the easiest to use and most accurate at the moment.

I've attached a link to the fan translation I'm working on as well to make it much easier to tell it is functional. Disabling network access also prevents the game from functioning.

If the check fails, this screen featuring test messages will display. If it succeeds, the previously sent screenshot will show instead, but with a proper font.

App tries to get connection for url "TESTTEN", which is obviously not a valid url. Older KEmulator versions will return null for that, but nnmod throws ConnectionNotFoundException as any normal device will do.

I suggest to patch this code by adding equals("TESTTEN") condition near startsWith("sms")
