I've stumbled across m4opt recently, which seems to be a new observation planning toolkit with a large overlap in the development team but with much bigger activity on its development than gwemopt. Therefore, I was wondering what is the envisaged roadmap for this package? Some external tools are currently relying on gwemopt for planning their follow-up, hence they should make a decision on whether or not switching to the m4opt package. In addition, some teams were planning a refactoring of gwemopt that represents a large investment -- maybe they should just switch to m4opt instead?

I agree that M4OPT is where we should be headed. It's under active development, so not quite ready for prime time, but I plan to focus my own development time on bringing M4OPT to production. But I would be surprised if it were to the point where it was ready for integration into SkyPortal before the summer.
