we are NOT committing to this but just writing down some interesting starting points

Tauri says it is a bad idea to build it with them (tauri-apps/tauri#2975 (comment)) buuuut maybe our usecase is constrained enough that we could use tauri? i'd LOVE a much smaller package size.
