Yes! Not specific to numbers; this is the current behavior when the mentioned user hasn't enabled the bridge. We translate fediverse @-mentions to Bluesky @-mentions, but we don't yet fall back to linking to the fediverse profile for non-bridged users. We should!

as @snarfed mentioned here I just came across this and thought it was a bug. I would personally say that mentions should be preserved as links to the profile that was mentioned if the bridge isn't turned on for that account. Otherwise you are dropping important data like who the person is actually mentioning.
in the case I just came across I have a mention of @[email protected] but you drop everything after the second @ so I could be mentioning a different 'hypolite'. I guess this would make more sense as an issue if the mention was an account name like @news or something very common as a handle
