On the Saturday morning of the competition, we have an Opening Ceremony. This has all the competitors in the cube with a speaker giving information about how the competition will work, safety, etc.

  • Write the script
  • Decide who is giving the speech
  • Ask areas in the script review to name an individual to be the person that reviews the script
  • Follow the script review process to ensure accuracy of the script

The script will need to include:

  • Safety regarding testing their robot
  • Information about robot safety inspections, etc.
  • What and where Helpdesk(s) is
  • How matches work, including staging, starting their robots, where to be during matches, etc

Opening Ceremony script review process

From #1174, it would be good for various peoples/areas to review the script. Each area will nominate a single person that will responsible for checking their area.

Review in the weeks before the competition:

  • Event Logistics Owner / Safety: robot safety and power tools.
  • Match Ops Owner: how matches work.
  • Helpdesk: how Helpdesk works.

@RealOrangeOne if you have time, it would be great to have your input on things that need to be done around the Opening Ceremony, including what needs to be in the script and who needs to review that script :)

Duplicate of the already existing #1425, which had been put under Team Support area so I missed it. I've transferred any relevant information across to the already existing issue, have re-assigned Jake to that issue, and will close this as duplicate.
