This is the layout of the .l_mpl_binary
level 1c spectra files
used as input for scia_retrieval_2d
.
The purpose is to save disk space compared to plain ascii spectra files
and the format is basically using the binary representation of the numbers.
This format is currently not very portable and relies on
float and int being 32 bits (4 bytes) and endianness is not considered.
However, these limitations should not be important
as long as the binary files are prepared on the same machine on which
the retrieval code is run on.
Loading is handled in LimbNadir_IO.cpp
