Description:
When using the new update (1.7.4) with Layer Control, layers that are native to Mapbox appear with normal, readable names (e.g., "Road," "Structure") in the "select layers" menu when a custom style is assigned to a Mapbox visual. However, when custom layers are added to the same style, their names appear with a random code appended (e.g., 409322 or 9ufghi) instead of meaningful names.
This inconsistency makes it difficult for users to comprehend the layer names at times.
Steps to Reproduce:
Use version 1.7.4 with Layer Control.
Assign a custom style to a Mapbox visual.
Observe the native Mapbox layers in "select layers" (e.g., "Road," "Structure").
Add custom layers to the style.
Observe that the custom layers appear in "select layers" with random codes appended to their names.
Expected Behaviour:
All layers, including custom layers, should display meaningful names in the "select layers" menu, similar to native Mapbox layers.
Actual Behaviour:
Custom layers appear with random codes (e.g., 409322 or 9ufghi) appended to their names, making them difficult to identify.
Mapbox version: 1.7.4, Power BI July 2024
Additional Context:
Providing consistent and meaningful names for all layers would improve usability, especially in complex projects with multiple layers.
Thank you so much for the new update with Layer Control! It has made a huge difference to the functionality of my team's Mapbox visuals.
