Azure AKS and default Kubenet networking plugin #36

Hi I'm testing an Azure AKS deployment using the documentation here. When I created the AKS I wanted full control over the options (AKS is crazy expensive and choosing wrongly could result in a massive bill from Microsoft!) so I used the portal to create the cluster rather than the AZ CLI commands. I notice in the portal the default networking option is "Kubenet" rather than standard Azure networking. I also didn't see any option to create the Application Gateway as part of the resource. Is Kubenet compatible with the documented setup? Should I create an Application Gateway separately and link it to the ingress? Would it be better for me to start again with the AZ CLI? Any help appreciated. Sorry if this is the wrong space for this question, but it is very specific to the PE K8S setup so I thought it might be more relevant.
