'Properties' window not working

I have Virtaal installed on Ubuntu 20.04. When I press Alt+Return or go to Files -> Properties to get some info on the file I'm working on, the window doesn't show up, or rather it shows as a buggy blank partial window on the top left corner. Also, I don't know why but even though I tried to install the 0.7.1 stable version, the 'about' section shows that it is the 1.0.0-beta version.
