Provide package for VS Code #14
Comments
This is a great idea! Would you be willing to port it? (Probably starting from the mei-friend online code base would be a better option, because it is more advanced. See https://github.com/Signature-Sound-Vienna/mei-friend-online) |
I would, but I don't have sufficient knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, thus I opened this issue. 😜 |
Is anyone from Enode able to do it? (We do not have the resources to maintain yet another code base.) Or is any other project in the community able to commit to this (@o-sapov, @ahankinson, @kepper)? |
I don't use VS Code, so not me! :) |
This announcement emphasises the need: https://github.blog/2022-06-08-sunsetting-atom/ |
Absolutely. Seems we bet the wrong horse with Atom. Could you find someone experienced in writing VS Code extensions in Typescript? Let's discuss how we could handle the porting to VS Code. |
Is there a way of getting funding for this? |
To be clear, mei-friend has already been ported to run as a Web application (using the CodeMirror in-browser editor): https://mei-friend.mdw.ac.at (this is the "mei-friend online" referred to by @wergo above). So while Atom's days may be numbered (insert joke about half-life here), mei-friend will live on :-) |
It would be great, if there was a package also for Visual Studio Code available. Potentially this could be then also integrated with the online version of the IDE.
