Describe the bug

the translation feature present in the app is missing from the options drawer and when I had to change the shortcut to translate to be able to access the function it just didn't work
tried a couple site to no avail saying "this page can't be translated right now "
i went and tried those same sites on the base chrome app and it worked just fine

Steps to reproduce the bug

open a site with any forging language
open the options drawer
see the translation button is missing
resorting to setting the translation as your shortcut
translation function doesn't work regardless

Expected behavior

for it to be shown and to work

It's purposely and unfortunately a removed/disabled feature as many others, just because it uses Google APIs, ping home and whatever reasons, which is sad, because you always for one or another reason have to also have another browser on hand and not 100% rely on this fork and last I checked there were related components left, which aren't removed, including flags.
Anyways, don't hope for an implementation anytime soon if at all, sadly the user scripts for this also don't seem to work and there's currently no way to translate a page natively on Android, without say pasting the link to a translation page or selecting the text you want to translate and call an app for this to do the job, but both are cases with their own problems and disadvantages, it's not only the inconvenience, there are also other issue tickets and discussion topics for the same, many/some are even falsely/wrongly closed as completed, while they should've been closed as not planned, I really hope uazo realizes soon that this is a much needed mandatory feature (given that probably and as it looks like his English is not native), but I doubt.
In the meantime you can close this yourself as not planned as it will be closed by the maintainer anyway when he sees it.

@areyance areyance closed this as not planned Won't fix, can't repro, duplicate, stale Nov 30, 2024
