DataProvider should support async loading. See previous discussion in #19.

We demonstrated async data loading in the Unicode Conference. Marking this issue as done. There may be more follow-up issues in the future to make async data loading more user-friendly, but I would like them to be customer-driven.

Fixed by #1104
