joining rooms from the matrix.to site no longer works

This seems to be broken for spaces too. It says it’s impossible join an empty room for the moment

Joining an empty room should now be covered by #5170, whereas inability to join from matrix.to can no longer be reproduce (i.e. it works), so closing the issue.

I can reproduce with https://matrix.to/#/#_oftc_#asahi-dev:matrix.org, sending a rageshake

Bizzarely I can join that room fine whereas your logs show synapse responding with 404 to the join request with

I assume you are able to join this room using the same account on another client?

I just tried the workflow by clicking the link on my laptop (macOS, Element Nightly) and I can join the room. It's far from being instant, but after ~30s I was joined to the room

Edit: from the same account, from the same location and network, all similar conditions

Seems to be the same root cause for this issue #5170. Discussed with @Anderas , let see if both issues are fixed.
