Issue to track #5122. Could be an issue with the homeserver wellknown. Seen on 1.6.7.

@pixlwave do you know whether the DM has been created bu inviting an email address?
because in this case the DM is not encrypted by default (to let the new member read message you sent before they create their account)

Oh interesting, that's good to learn. @SBiOSoftWhare looked into this one which was reported by @AmandineLP so they should probably have more context on it.

I checked the logs. The other end had no devices. E2EE cannot work.
We should have a better UX though.
