Bug: Request suggestions no longer works

After clicking request suggestions, the AI says it's added suggestions, but the blue highlights with suggestions no longer appear (see below)

However, I've noticed when the screen loses focus (as when you switch to another application and then switch back to the browser), suddenly the suggestion highlights appear:

This is happening in my local env with a clone of of the repo as of today (Jan 8, 2025).
